Stephanie Kneissl is a Vienna-based designer who works on exhibitions, objects, installations and various other projects.
Her projects revolve around algorithms, sex education, virtual coffee houses and interactive museums. For her, design is an explorative medium to tell stories about our relationships, rituals, habits, and culture. Her work explores our relationship to science and technology and their impact on the world around us.
She is working at ISTA, Institute for Science and Technology Austria as a curator for the VISTA Science Experience Center and curated the first exhibition „Science in the Making“.
She is part of Design in Gesellschaft (DING) a studio community and design collective in Vienna with whom she does exhibitions and workshops.
Stephanie Kneissl studied Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Fiona Raby, Anab Jain) and at Designskolen Kolding.
Her work as been shown at MAK (AT) Vienna Design Week (AT), Schloss Hollenegg for Design (AT), Photographers Gallery London (UK), Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin (DE), Biennale for Change (AT), Wienwoche (AT) or Design Biennale Istanbul (TUR) and given workshops or talks at European Forum Alpbach or Pratt Institute NY.
